First
Presbyterian Willoughby Mission Support
|
First Presbyterian Church of Willoughby
supports global, national, regional, and local mission. In Luke 3:10,
Jesus taught us that he who has two coats, let him share with him who has
none; and he who has food, let him do likewise. We strive to be a rainbow
of hope to those in need by sharing the abundance in our lives. Below are
a few of the organizations whom we support.

The Walk for Hunger is the Hunger Network of Greater
Cleveland's signature event that takes place each May to raise funds and
awareness to fight hunger in Greater Cleveland. The Walk for Hunger is a walk
through downtown beginning at Burke Lakefront Airport and finishing at the North
Coast Harbor with music, refreshments and entertainment for the entire family.
This
year, over 2,200 walkers in teams of 10 or more participated and helped raise
money to directly support hungry men, women & children right here in greater
Cleveland. Any walker who raised $40 or more earned a Walk for Hunger T-shirt,
and we are glad to report that it was hard to find anyone without one of
these T-shirts.
If
you missed this year's event, be sure and join us next year.
You
can contact Cindy Oviatt (at First Presbyterian) for more information on
becoming part of the First Presbyterian team, or just contact the church
office.

Make a difference ...
the Willoughby Food Pantry is a local interdenominational service for the
needy and operates out of Willoughby United Methodist Church. FPCW supports
the excellent local mission. The first Sunday of each month non-perishable
foods, paper products and household supplies are donated to this cause.
Financial support for this mission is also appreciated. Donations should be
placed in the grocery cart in the lobby. Monetary donations can be placed in
the offering plate (please note "Willoughby Food Pantry" on your
donation). Any other support
you can give this worthy local support mission is always welcome.
We
ask for your donations of any non-perishable foods, vegetables, fruits,
paper products, diapers, wipes, etc.
Thank you for your interest and helping to meet a need.

Since 1944, Heifer has helped more than 7 million families in more than 125 countries improve their quality of life.
Heifer International and friends like you have been proving that there's no
better way to help a family escape poverty and hunger than by providing them
with sustainable means of supporting themselves. What started with heifers has
progressed to Chinese silkworms and Nepalese water buffalo. Heifer has learned
that resources both small and large can help families lift themselves our of
poverty to health and hope. If you have a friend or family member who shares
your concern about the less fortunate among us, or a co-worker who is especially
fond of a certain animal like cows, pigs or ducks ... then please mention this
opportunity to them, and get them their own Heifer International Catalog.
The most important gift catalog in the world!

Lake County Church Network, headquartered in Willoughby, is a
locally focused assistance group that provides referrals to agencies most likely
to respond to a particular need. LCCN works with the United Way, Community
Action, and Western Reserve. When an agency is unable to help we call upon
member churches to get the assistance needed.
For over 10 years LCCN has provided less than fortunate
individuals and families with the tools and necessities that life calls upon.
This has included families having difficulty maintaining their mortgage and or
rent, food costs, travel expenses, and general necessities. With life comes
hardship, we are here to help.
Working within the framework of our own individual faith and
belief system, we the members of the religious community of Lake County gather
together to facilitate the relief of suffering for those in need while providing
a forum for the exchange of ideas, information, support and friendship for both
those in need and those who seek to serve them. First Presbyterian Church is
proud to be a partner.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of many
people.

One of the primary missions of the Presbyterian Women is Blanket/Tools of Hope. This mission project is sponsored by
the Church World Service. Over the last years earthquakes, tidal waves, and hurricanes left a trail of destruction and grief in Pakistan, the Indian Ocean region, and our own Gulf Coast states. In each instance, thanks to your past generous support, Church World Service was able to respond promptly and effectively with emergency supplies of blankets, food and shelter supplies.
Thanks
to everyone who have shared generous gifts providing a rainbow of caring to those in need in some 80 countries.
Please continue to support this very important
ongoing mission project.
